Canada

While the rest of the world have had to cross several time zones and vast oceans to compete at the Silicon Valley 7s, the Canadians are just a quick two-hour flight from their headquarters in British Columbia. After enduring a difficult season in 2015/2016, with their head coach heading to Australia, failing to qualify for the Rio Olympics and finishing 13th on the World Series, the Canadians were resurgent last season. They finished eighth, reaching the semifinals in four tournaments. Canada wants no part of missing out on the 2020 Games and has doubled down on its efforts heading into the upcoming World Series. Adam Zaruba, a budding star, won’t be on the field, as he signed a three-year contract with the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles this summer, but the Canadians have plenty of replacement firepower.
