Army and Central Washington got the men’s competition in the stadium under way. The one-time runner-up, Army, looked to claim a crucial victory over the former semifinalist, Central Washington. Army’s Jake Lachina got the Black Knights the early lead. Harrison Farrell’s conversion made it a full-score advantage. Central Washington pulled it level with a tap and go by CWU’s captain Scott Dean, who converted his own try to make it seven apiece at halftime.

In the tenth minute, CWU repeated the tap and go for the go-ahead score, this time coming from Dom Lindstrom. The conversion was missed, keeping Army in position to win with a converted try. Central Washington made it a two-score lead when Jack Wendling picked the ruck ball and dove into the corner for the five-pointer. That is where it stood on full time: CWU 17, Army 7.
