Life Women vs Lindenwood Women - Collegiate Rugby Championship
2018-19_PM_Ins_970x90

A rematch of the last two CRC finals, Lindenwood came out looking to get the win it had been denied in each of the last two years.

Carin De Freitas got Lindenwood inside the Life five-meter, eventually becoming a try for Vetternoica Tafito. Annakaren Pedraza’s conversion attempt was surprisingly off the mark. That miss allowed Life to take the lead with Spiff Sedrick’s try and Madison Ohmann’s conversion. But the lead was not permanent as Kodi Barlow got in for the lead, making it 10–7 at the end of the first half.

Lindenwood increased its lead to start the second half with a try by Carin De Freitas. Pedraza added the conversion to make it 17–7 for Lindenwood. A stiff arm and spin by Kaitlyn Broughton kept Life in the game. Madison Ohmann added the conversion to make it a three-point match with almost four minutes left.

With twenty-five seconds left, Life stopped Lindenwood just shy of the Life line and won a penalty. Another penalty at midfield with the clock set to expire gave Life its last chance for glory. Life moved inside the Lindenwood twenty-two with a cary by Maria Marin. And the final word of the match was Broughton diving over the line and the official consulting with both touch judges to rule that the ball was lost forward. On full time: Lindenwood 17, Life 14.

Lindenwood not only got the monkey off its back when it came to Life at the CRC, but booked a date with Penn State in the final.
