Penn State Women vs NSCRO Women - Collegiate Rugby Championship
2018-19_PM_Ins_970x90

Ally Gallagher got NSCRO on the board first. Kelcey Stutzman having overcome yesterday her struggles in goal kicking on day 1, continued her good run of form with the conversion to make it 7–0 over the heavily favored Nittany Lions. It was the first points against Penn State in the tournament.

Fighting back, Penn State narrowly missed out on a try in the left corner but was dragged to touch. Unfortunately for NSCRO, Stutzman’s lineout throw went past the NSCRO lifters, and landed in the hands of Gianna Solomon for Penn State, making it NSCRO 7, Penn State 5. Tess Feury exploded past the NSCRo defense to give Penn State its first lead of the match. Gabby Cantorna’s conversion made it 12–7. And the floodgates were officially open when Darina Roe scored under the posts to end the half.

Down but not out, NSCRO looked to battle back into a match it once led. But Tess Feury’s second try just over a minute into the half dug the whole even deeper. Irene Koraplis’s ninth try of the tournament cemented the result. Kelly DeGrood got a final try for NSCRO but it was Penn State the victor. With the 33–12 result, Penn State returned to the CRC final for the first time since 2015.
