The Michigan Wolverines earned their first victory of the CRC with a 17-12 win over the UCLA Bruins. UCLA started the game with a bang, as Cian Berry cut through Michigan’s defenses with enormous speed to give the Bruins a 5-0 lead. With less than a minute to go in the half, James Francis dragged two defenders over the try line to pad UCLA’s lead. They would take a 12-0 lead into halftime. In the second half, Michigan came out flying, as Sequoyah Burke-Combs broke the try line, and Joel Conzelmann added the conversion to bring the Wolverines to within a try. They would tie it up with a try from Andre Cargill, and a conversion put them on top, 14-12. Late in the game, George Birch of UCLA received a red card. Michigan added a late penalty kick goal to finish off the match.
