The Hokies took an early 10–0 lead thanks to tries from Danny McKillop and Jesse Neighbor. St. Joseph’s then rattled off fourteen unanswered points through Jonathan Ahern’s brace of tries and a conversion, along with a conversion from Matthew Lydon. With little time remaining after St. Joseph’s took the lead, the Hokies still managed to post two self-converted tries from Wes Pan to pull out the 24–14 victory.
