It took a while for Wisconsin to fully capitalize, but points finally came when Owen Sheehy found space for the score. Danny Plinck slotted the conversion for a 7–0 lead with just under three minutes to go. With just twenty seconds to go in the half, Sheehy made it a double with his try in the right corner for the 12–0 Badgers’ lead at the intermission. The second half saw Wisconsin expand the lead with a score from Jacob Benzing followed by a score from Sheehy to complete his hat trick. Malcom Clark’s conversion made it 22–0. John Higgins’ try put the match well out of reach. Wisconsin missed the simple conversion but stood in front 29–0 midway into the second half. Sheehy’s fourth try in the thirteenth minute put him in early consideration for dream team selection and put the Badgers ahead 36–0. Boston College could not avoid the shutout.
